Dr. Marvinia Charles
President
Dr. Marvinia Charles is a highly accomplished Emergency Medicine physician who brings
extensive experience and dedication to her work. Currently, she is part of an elite traveling
physician team, providing critical care across various Emergency Departments in the Midwest,
and she also serves our Veterans at the Dallas VA Medical Center.
Dr. Charles earned her undergraduate degree from Stony Brook University, graduating with
honors, and completed her medical education at Upstate Medical University. She further honed
her skills during her residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, followed by an
Administrative Fellowship with Integrative Emergency Services.
Her leadership journey includes serving as the Vice President of the SNMA Chapter at her
medical school, Chief Resident during her residency, Regional Vice President of the Committee
of Interns and Residents, Vice-President and Treasurer of the C.V. Roman Medical Society.
Dr. Charles is deeply committed to mentoring and educating future physicians and advocates for
improvements in patient health and well-being. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys
reading, traveling, fitness, and cherishes time spent with her family, and friends.

Dr. Dreama Sloan-Kelly
Vice President
Dr. Dreama Sloan-Kelly is a physician executive, healthcare consultant, and entrepreneur who blends her clinical training with deep expertise in medical coding, compliance, and revenue cycle strategy to help physicians succeed in the business of medicine. As the founder and President of Dr. Sloan-Kelly Consulting, she partners with medical practices, hospitals, and academic centers nationwide to strengthen documentation accuracy, audit readiness, and operational performance. Guided by her motto, “For doctors, by doctors,” she is committed to empowering physicians with the knowledge, tools, and strategies needed to thrive.
Dr. Sloan-Kelly earned her undergraduate degree from Wellesley College and her medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. She also holds advanced certifications as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) and Certified Professional Coder (CPC). She currently serves as Vice Chair of the Council on Clinical Practice for the National Medical Association and is a member of the NMA Artificial Intelligence Task Force.
In her free time, Dr. Sloan-Kelly enjoys spending time with her children and family, traveling, exploring real estate investing, and discovering new food experiences.

Dr. Barry-Lewis Harris II
Treasurer
Barry-Lewis Harris, II, MD, CCHP, possesses essential experience in leadership, advocacy, health policy, culturally competent medical care, and organizational excellence and currently serves as the Senior Medical Director and Chief of Correctional Health Services for Parkland Health in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Harris is Board Certified in Family Medicine and a recognized leader with academic acumen and professional expertise in various facets. He has been responsible for improvements in clinical care delivery, developing quality metrics, managing health information, implementing product system go-live, establishing patient-centered medical homes, overseeing correctional health, and achieving successful accreditation with the Joint Commission and the National Commission on Correctional Healthcare. He graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. He obtained his Doctor of Medicine at East Tennessee State University, completed his Family Medicine residency at Meharry Medical College, and was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Harris is a member of Sigma Pi Phi Boulé and a life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Within the National Medical Association, Dr. Harris has served at the national level in various capacities, including Board Secretary, Governance and Compliance Chair, Grants and Special Programs Chair, Region III Trustee, Region III Chair, Resident Section Chair, and Postgraduate Physician Trustee.
Dr. Harris has led a diversified family medicine group while also being Medical Director for an Acute Inpatient Detoxification Unit, a Long-Term Acute Care Facility, and a Long-Term Nursing Center. He was selected as Chief of Medicine and Chief of Staff at a private for-profit hospital. He was chosen as the Chief Medical Officer of Primary Care and later as the Chief of Staff for the Gulf Coast Veterans Healthcare System. He was the Chief Medical Officer/Medical Director at a Federally Qualified Healthcare Center, while also serving as the site Medical Director for the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services, which marked the beginning of his correctional health experience. Before joining Parkland Health, he served as Regional Medical Director for Corizon Health on behalf of the Kansas Department of Corrections. He also served as Interim Vice President of Operations during his tenure as Regional Medical Director. In his current role, Dr. Harris is responsible for healthcare for the 7th largest jail in the United States and all juvenile detention facilities in Dallas County.

Dr. Henriette Mathis
Secretary
Dr. Henriette Mathis is a native of Dallas, Texas. She went to Southern Methodist University for her undergraduate education. She received a B.S. in Biochemistry in 2006. She attended medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. She graduated in 2011 and went on to Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Washington Boise program. She completed residency in 2014 and returned to Dallas, TX. She is currently a Clinical Associate Professor of Internal Medicine and Hospitalist at UT Southwestern and Parkland. Dr. Mathis is the Medical Director for Medicine Secure at Parkland Health and Hospital System. She is the course director of Medicine 1915, a Medicine-Psychiatry sub-intern selective. She also serves as Co-Chair for the Health Equity Committee. Dr. Mathis is currently an active member of several medical societies including Society of Hospital Medicine, National Medical Association, C.V. Roman, and American College of Physicians. Her interests are workplace violence, multi-disciplinary care of incapacitated patients, and medical education.

Dr. Devin Dickson
Historian
Dr. Devin L. Dickson, a true southerner born and raised in Arkansas, made Texas her home in 2016. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Washington and Lee University and a master’s degree in Public Health with a focus on Community Oriented Primary Care from George Washington University. Her medical education and residency training were completed at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
As an internist, Dr. Dickson provides primary and continuing care for adults, managing a wide range of health issues. Her central focus is on primary prevention, promoting wellness through regular checkups and age appropriate screenings. Dr. Dickson offers comprehensive care by considering the whole patient and coordinating care with other specialists when necessary. She carries a passion for mentoring and medical student education, serving for two years as the CV Roman Medical Student Liaison. Beyond her medical career, Dr. Dickson is an avid sports fan that enjoys travel, cooking, and yoga.
